First Generation Robot

robat.jpg

This is one of the first competitive robots that I've built to pick up Lego bricks, batteries, tennis balls, and ping pong balls. It first sweeps up the objects similar to a street sweeper, transports them into a jug, and uprights the jug using the bent hanger depicted here. I used a Futaba radio control and variable speed controllers to control custom gearboxes. This elegant control system and lots of practice gave me an advantage over my competition because the robot could move so precisely. I medaled with a fourth-place finish in the state using this robot.
